In the fall of 2017 I began using local clay from Perryville, Maryland. Thanks to the kind folks at Stancills, Inc I am able to collect a high iron stoneware that I then mix into a clay body that matures at cone 6. The clay is first dried, then is slaked down in water and screened to 20 mesh. The screened slurry then goes into a clay mixer and dry ingredients are added. The result is a dense stoneware body that is full of charter due to the impure nature of the Stancills clay.
